Bedbug Control

Bedbugs

Bedbugs (Cimex lectularius) are small ( 4-5 mm long), oval shaped insects without developed wings. Their color varies from light to dark brown and their mouth allows them to puncture skin and suck blood. They are nocturnal insects and usually live on or near our beds. They can also be found under carpets, on picture frames, in electric sockets and in small cracks on walls and furniture.

Bedbugs feed on human blood and can cause dermatological problems, often serious.

Bedbugs mainly transport and spread either on clothes and fabrics or by staying hidden in mattresses and furniture. One should be extremely cautious when staying in military camps, hotels and other places suspicious of bedbug presence. When acquiring a piece of used furniture we should make sure it isn’t infested before bringing it into our home.

Because in the early stages of a bedbug infestation the bites are few and not in daily bases, they are often confuse with mosquito bites or other dermatological reactions. When we suspect or determine bedbug presence, their population has most likely increased significantly and they have probably spread throughout the house. Finding dark colored stains on the mattress and the sheets as well as a distinct unpleasant smell around the bed are serious indications of a bedbug infestation.

Dealing with bedbugs is extremely challenging and should be assigned to an experienced professional like PESTGURU. In order to permanently get rid of them, spraying on and around the bed is not enough. Apart from the bedroom, the whole house should be thoroughly inspected, preferably by using special lenses and instruments. Following the inspection, we suggest the treatment plan that better suits your case. Methods include pesticide spraying, monintoring trap installing and use of specialized equipment such as foggers and dry steam devices. Finally, we recommend actions you should take, such as machine-washing clothes and bedsheets preferably at 90oCοC.
